Syphillis Outbreak

Hi Guys,

You may or may not be aware of the current outbreak. I have heard that all producers in Prague have put a stop on any work for 6 weeks to try and stop it spreading any more.

I know that many of the british models have been phoning round not sure which way to turn or what they should do.

I'm just putting this out there for opinions and if anyone thinks we should be looking to do something like that here? I totally understand the problems that will occur but if we don't look at this in a realistic light maybe the problems will be bigger in the long run?

I have just spoken to the doctor, he has informed me that the detection time for syphilis is anywhere between 10 and 90 days but usually it can be detected between 3 and 4 weeks. After 2 weeks they can start doing tests.

The treatment is an injection of penicillin some countries give 2 injections, this is what the doctor suggested, an initial injection and then a follow up injection a couple of weeks later. Here in the UK the guidelines are only 1 but he suggests 2.

If someone does have it there is no guarantees that the injections will totally clear it up. He suggests tests three months, six months and twelve months.

This may not seem a problem but the way I see it, if a model contracts syphilis and there are no guarantees that the injections will clear it up and it does lay dormant, if a model then gets tested and it is dormant it won't be detected but the model still has it and it could flare up and be passed on.

I think all models should be tested for syphilis in at least 2 weeks time, possibly between 3 and 4 weeks just to be on the safe side and should cancel all work they have until they are tested within the timescales as specified by the doctor from regents park.

In Madagascar 30% of the active sexual population have syphilis at this moment in time. This is very scary.

Please let me know your thoughts. I am cancelling all my productions over the next month.
