Critism was invited from within the industry albeit not from phil, My writting style (or lack of) an sense of humor have a knack of putting my foot in it, so dont hold it against me :)

I figured i would post my thoughts on it.... My opinion won't count for a whole heap of beans and i hope i'm not out of line, but hopefully it will be construde as constructive.

Big Congrats are Due for pushing on tho :)

The time keeping was a little annoying, holding concentration for so long then it being delayed with a flaky excuse, but first attempt, thats easily forgiven, so issue there. This is like a dry run and can only be used as experience for the next one :)

The Catagories some of them was concerning, i mean i dont in a hugely negative way, i mean some catagories the same people had more than 1 nomination, i didnt like that myselff, id like to have seen it that you can only have 1 nom per award, unless its unavoidable like the t-girl one.

The bringing of RealPunting, Tran-sexual/vestite/etc, Homosexuality, Bizarre and Straight in a pro, ameteur and reality setting all together has to applauded, tackleing all at once, and including everyone MAJOR KUDOS for that.

The awards looked good, and i believe engraved with the award title and the winners name, thats a fantastic touch :) but i didnt see one up close to be sure of that, just saw someone reading the writting on an award on the stage.

The location was good, security was high, I have a few piercings in my bits, and i was expecting some embarressment when the paddle beeped on my groin, security was understanding and no problem. Cloakroom was organised and no problem.

The PR People needed shaking! Who was they ??

The talent male and female, directors, producers, celebs and everyone was all amazing, friendly, chatting, giggling, and couldnt be faulted.

Who was the judges? I would have liked that to be a little more transparent.

I think its got many more years ahead of it and will only get bigger and better, but i think phil would do well allow more of us within the industry to help and have input/ideas to make it smoother, and share the load, its in all our benefit to make this big.

It all depends on how many people voted.

I suspect not many.

In fact I had not even known about the awards till i read the posts today.

Do they mean anything? Well if you compaire them to the big awards by avn et al (and others), then not at all.

They may help get a few more shops buy your dvd, and mabe help sell one or two more films, but nothing great.

Probably should be seen more as a bit of fun and a nice get to gether for those involved.

In fact its so well organised you can still get tickets for it:

http://www.redzonepictures.com/tickets.htm

Little things such as that makes me think its a rather poor event.

But what do I know?

Granted some organisational issues, and lots of pr issues, but its a first run and all this should be alot more fixed up next year.

Its like work, first few weeks at a new job your a mess but as you get into the swing, you get more efficient at doing it...

If next year isnt getting better, i will ask the same things and cut the pound of flesh then, but was the first AVN's and other awards flawless?

Take a look at some photos of the event http://www.modelalias.com and some on http://gallery.strictlybroadband.com as well, the awards a definately english aire to it :)

But how independent are the people running the awards.

From what i have seen with the avn awards they are indipendent.

I mean unless people feel its 100% indipendent, then some firms will simply not care. Indeed may do there own awards. In fact you may get to the situation that each firm does its own awards.

And at the moment its a rather closet job. By this only we (well in fact you) know about it.

I mean unless a real newspaper or magazine covers the event (i am not sure if any did) then whats the point.

I mean a few years back i went to the awards in brighton. These were a bit off fun, and even got into Nuts magazine (I think it was nuts). But I think most people took it for what they were, a bit of fun. I do not think it was a life changing carea.

You obviously missed the Guardian article who went at it with a battalion of gatlin gun toting berzerka's, Nuts, Zoo, FHM, ETO, and half a dozen other newspapers/mags was there with their own journos.

Sneezwort. They were announced on Beer & Bollocks which I know you read every day. How could you miss it? JT prevents constant "spamming" of his board so we could only post once. Over here we have no such censorship!

With regard to the judges. They were 5 independent judges, and if you want to know who they were all you have to do is ask the organiser, Phil. Send him a PM on here and he will fill you in. It would have been very easy for us to fix are own Awards and I'm sure that has happened before, but these Awards were independent, which makes winning one all the more sweeter.

Hey Jay,

would have been better to the outside world and media in general if the whole process was in the open, the conspiracy theorist will always be there, to pre-emptive kicks to the nuts are the order of the day.

what is this constant negativity all about!!!?
who needs the guardian when we've got ourselves!!? fucking hell,..i think phil black did an amazing job and i'm truly struggling to offer any real valid critism of a wonderfully entertaining evening which has done so much to advance our stigmatised industry....this was a triumph in every sense and remember the brits were still tripping over their pants when they had effectively been televised for fucking years!!
please grow up and have the good grace to acknowledge a job well done...lets feel good about ourselves and leave the small mindedness to the good guardian!
as for internal corruption...i won a fair few awards and was nominated in many more....and knew absolutely nothing of the proceedure or the results prior....FACT!
rant over and back to bilding shelves for me awards !

Well said George!!

Phil did a stunning job getting things organised as he did in the timescales he had to work with and I have to echo your comments about internal corruption. there was none!! simple as that

I am quite sure these awards were a lot more independent than the AVN awards...

I'm unsure if the corruption stuff came from my query as to who the judges are or from the other guy, if it was from my comments, i apologise as that was not my intention.

My issues was all minor and stuff that WILL be easily fixed and i believe reletively unpredictable...

My comments on the judges and nominations are this...

For the sake of the people who scream conspiracy inwhich they always WILL be someone, the judges and procedure should have been crystal clear, so no one even had the chance to scream fix. Next year i hope this will be the case.

The nominations, I (personal opinion) think, you should only be allowed to be nominated ONCE per award... I just reads better to me.

Phil did a great job, and almost all the issues, i put down to a learning curve... and will get better with the next one, and i am 100% looking forward to the next one, and willing to do what i can to help this happen.

Where judging is concerned there were 4 out of the 5 judges at the event on the night and I had intended to name them and let them stand up on the night, but as anyone who was there on the night I seemed to get stage fright and forgot to thank the presenters and the team that helped me put it on too.

The judges worked right up to the night before which is why we had the hicups on the night, why because many producers failed to provide enough screeners and they had to be circulated.

Next year as we have now established the event, the closing deadlines for nominations and providing the screeners will be strict and the panel of judges (of which there will be 7) will be able to see them in good time and they will all sit at one table and can be meet as was the intention this time.

We are already working on next years event now as well as sending press releases to those who requested them , all over europe and us

thanks to all for their encouraging words, i promise it was just a start

Hey Phil,

It says ALOT about you, for taking the criticism on board and working to make it useful :)

I think it was a GOOD start, and most the issues will be easily fixed and the mistakes learned from :)
