I have been asked by one of Joe's closest friends to pass on this news about Joe's recent illness.
Unfortunately Joe is suffering from terminal throat cancer and sadly will not be with us much longer.
Joe had a major impact on this industry in one way or another and will be greatly missed by many of us

This is very sad news indeed. I'm shocked to hear it, but thanks for letting us all know. There was a lot of love for Joe at the Beer & Bollocks meet in Leeds this week. Johny Traffic from B&B did see Joe yesterday and he said:
"If you are a friend of Joe's feel free to PM me or ICQ me if there is anything you want to know and if I can I'll furnish you with details.
First thing is Joe doesnt want any visitors. Not family not friends not anyone. Not me again. No one. But I will be going again to see him in a week or so. If anyone wants to see Joe. Just be prepared that he doesnt want you there. For me thats easy, as no one wants me anywhere I go.
For those trying to phone Joe and are leaving messages. Dont bother, Joe wont be taking calls in the immediate future. He is far to weak to pick up a phone and can hardly speak."

JOE was considered a bit of an "old woman" by some and managed to upset others. However, his heart was always in the right place and his intentions were always well-meant.
None of us are perfect and if there were a points scale, I wonder how we would all score on the board of life.
This is written as though he has already left us but unfortunately it is only a matter of time. My overriding wish for him is that he does not suffer too much.
Good luck Joe -you were OK.

What Johnny Traffic suggested is typical Joe and the old man has told me to fuck off many a time i said something that upset him. i wont be breaking tradition now.
Joe is a good bloke. Yeah he had his moments but then who doesnt? I'm still going to see him and I bet you anything despite him saying that, IF he said that he wont mind a visit. I imagine its because he doesnt want anyone to see him in the state he is but if the man has little while left to live i would still like to see him before he leaves us forever. I'm hoping a visit will give him reason to live but if fate is going to be cruel enough to take him away I would still prefer to say good bye in person if it comes down to it.
No one should leave this world alone in a hospital bed. Not least anyone who is respected and with friends.

Damn right Terry,
I'm going to travel down and see him this week and if he tells me to fuck off then i'll know Joe is Joe. But I wont leave without thanking him for being my friend
